Portrait of a Garment Worker
Self-initiated, 2018
Animated Portrait using Photoshop
Motion portrait of a Garment Industry Worker inspired by Minh-Ha T. Pham's many published works on the politics of Asian women's relationship to the garment industry and the labour it employs.
As you go up in the fashion industry's hierarchy, the work of the underpaid, Third World female workers are less visible and discussed. Instead, male designers at the helm are usually representing the face and future of this industry. This rotoscope portrait aims for women to think about the limits of ethical consumerism in fashion.
